MyBB 1.6 - how we will handle it

Hello everyone, as some of you might have allready noticed, the 1.6 Beta (1.5.0.1) is out and can be downloaded from here.

The following is important for all users of MybbAddons.com, here is how we will handle the new version:
- MybbAddons.com forum will NOT be updated to 1.6 in close future, we might even wait for the final version to avoid any problems
- Addons will not be ported although they might work with the new version. Instead, they will be replaced with better versions and you will get update instructions on how to port your galleries, lyrics and all other stuff to the new 1.6 versions
- All other plugins will be ported to 1.6 if that makes sense (e.g. if the feature, the plugin adds, is not added by 1.6), same applies for themes, mycodes and template changes
- I do not advice anybody to run 1.6 Beta on a living forum yet.

How do you know if a plugin is written for 1.4 or 1.6?
All of my plugins mention their version and compatibility like that in the plugin threads:

Version: 1.0
Compatibility: 1.4.x

For the future, I will add either

Compatibility: 1.4.x / 1.6.x

or

Compatibility: 1.6.x

I will also tag all new 1.6 releases with [1.6] and add this tag as a prefix as soon as this forum is upgraded to MyBB 1.6.

MyBB 1.6 seems stable enough now to port the first few plugins.

A new download category has been created and will be filled with the old 1.4 downloads ported to 1.6 and new downloads for 1.6 only.

MybbAddons.com forum is not beeing updated to 1.6 yet.

All plugins will not only get a new compatibility check and setting, most of them will also get a better performance and other updates. Check the version number and all information I post to the plugins and make sure you do use the official new 1.6 release.
I do not support 1.4 plugins that are used on MyBB 1.6.

Hi Lennart.

I know many of us are looking forward to the updated plugins for 1.6. Is there anyway we could be given some kind of indication of what will be released and when?

For myself, the Gallery plugin is very important as I have been waiting since January this year for the updated version! My members are also looking very forward to this feature as well.

Of course the other plugins being updated is important as well, and the Facebook plugin looks very good.

As before if you need help with testing (I have a testsite running 1.6 as well) then I am more than happy to help.
